Prayer book presented to Ann Smart on leaving The School of Industry at Bamburgh Castle, Bamburgh, Northumberland, in 1806.

Inscription inside front cover of volume reads: “The Trustees of the Estates of the Right Honble. Nathaniel late Lord Crewe Lord Bishop of Durham, have ordered this book together with the Holy Bible, the whole duty of man & Abp.Seckers lectures on the catechism to be given to ANN SMART on her going from The School of Industry at Bamburgh Castle to a service procured for her by the recommendation of the said Trustees as a testimony of her proficiency as a reward for her good behaviour and as a help & encouragement to her further improvement in knowledge & to her perseverance in piety & virtue.” Signed on behalf of the Trust by R.G.
